Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited has joined the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP), becoming the third Nigerian firm and the fourth in Africa to gain membership.
Renaissance, a consortium of indigenous energy companies that acquired onshore and shallow water oil blocks formerly operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company, was formally welcomed into the global body in London, according to a statement by the company’s spokesperson, Mr. Michael Adande.
IOGP is a leading industry organisation that promotes knowledge sharing on health, safety, environment, and operational best practices.
Welcoming the company, IOGP Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Graham Henley, said:
“I am delighted to welcome Renaissance Africa Energy Company to IOGP. Having worked in Nigeria some years ago, I understand both their challenges but also the tremendous expertise and insights that they have to share. I look forward to their contributions across our committees and subcommittees.”
Renaissance’s Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Tony Attah, described the membership as a major milestone:
“We are glad to have become a member of IOGP, barely five months after completing the acquisition of Shell’s shares in the defunct SPDC. This marks another step in our strategy to drive energy security and industrialisation sustainably.”
He added that Renaissance aims to set new standards for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry while urging other stakeholders to align with global best practices.
Renaissance’s General Manager, Safety and Environment, and company representative to IOGP, Engineer Elozino Olaniyan, said the recognition underscores the firm’s commitment to excellence:
“This is a very important endorsement of the high standards Renaissance has adopted from the start. It highlights our dedication to operate in line with global best practices across the entire value chain, ultimately driving industrialisation, job creation, and economic growth.”
