Life’s Good (LG) Electronics has unveiled a new product, a “dehumidifier,” designed to reduce humidity and curb airborne diseases in homes, hospitals, and other environments.
A dehumidifier is an electrical appliance that removes excess moisture from the air, helping to maintain optimal humidity levels and prevent mold, mildew, and musty odors. Humidity is the concentration of water vapor in the air, indicating the likelihood of precipitation, dew, or fog.
Unveiling the product in Abuja on Wednesday, Olugbenga Ogunbayo, LG’s Product Expert, said the dehumidifier is designed to automatically detect and remove excess moisture in indoor spaces.
Ogunbayo, also LG’s Master Trainer for West Africa, said the product is particularly useful in hospitals, churches, and hotels for air purification and creating environments less prone to airborne diseases. The energy-saving device also helps eliminate unpleasant odors in shoes.
He added that the product is relatively affordable considering its quality, capacity, and standards.
“We often see damp walls and wet spaces in homes, causing discomfort in breathing. This dehumidifier is necessary for everyone, not just private spaces. It can also help dry clothes more efficiently than a washing machine dryer while consuming less energy,” Ogunbayo said.
Mr. Paul Mba, Head of Corporate Marketing at LG Electronics Nigeria, said the company had introduced the first smart dehumidifier to the Nigerian market. The product helps reduce allergies caused by excess vapor, improving overall air quality.
“During the rainy season, high humidity affects breathing and concentration, often triggering allergies. This smart dehumidifier will address those challenges in homes,” Mba explained.
Adham Alsa’adi, Marketing Manager of Fouani Nigeria Limited, described the product as a smart solution for managing humidity in homes and other spaces.
The product is available in two sizes and is priced between N400,000 and N500,000.
