Nigeria is emerging as one of Africa’s leading centres of Artificial Intelligence (AI) activity, alongside Kenya and South Africa, according to the World Bank. The Bank said AI activity on the continent is currently concentrated in the three economies, although adoption remains at an early stage across most African countries. The finding is contained in the World Bank’s latest Africa Economic Update, which places special focus on “Building AI-Readiness” across Sub-Saharan Africa. The Kaduna government says it has targeted 1,000 vision-impaired persons for free eye-care services in the state. The exercise, which began on Wednesday, is being implemented in collaboration with the Kaduna Ministry of Health and Sightsavers, a development partner. Gombe State on Wednesday unveiled its statewide livestock vaccination campaign after recording a decline in livestock mortality from 28.1 per cent in 2022 to 12.2 per cent in 2025. Gov. Inuwa Yahaya, represented by his deputy, Manassah Jatau, inaugurated the campaign in Gombe. It targets transboundary animal diseases, including Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP), Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) and Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR). The Cross River Government says it is increasing investment in livestock production, processing, and meat infrastructure to improve the supply of animal protein. Mr Liyel Imoukhuede, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Livestock, said in an interview with reporters in Calabar on Wednesday that the move would also create room for more competitive prices. A hospitality company, Mouna Apartment Ltd, on Wednesday cried out for help over the demolition of structures on its property in Idu Industrial District, Abuja. The structures, including a warehouse and fence, were erected on disputed land with plot numbers 1426 and 633, Cadastral Zone C16, Idu.
