The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) injected a net N5.21 trillion into the banking system between August 4 and 11, 2026, releasing substantial liquidity ahead of a N700 billion Nigerian Treasury Bills (NTB) auction scheduled for Wednesday. The liquidity injection was largely driven by repayments on Open Market Operations (OMO) and Treasury Bills instruments that matured during the period. The largest single-day release occurred on August 11, when the CBN repaid N2.48 trillion through OMO maturities. The Federal Government has identified six states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for the pilot implementation of its National Ranching Policy. Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha, disclosed this after briefing President Bola Tinubu on the ministry’s activities at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday. Maiha said the pilot programme would commence at the Wase Grazing Reserve in Plateau as a proof of concept for the new ranching model.
