A Pastor has pleaded guilty before a Yaba Chief Magistrate’s court in Lagos, to having canal knowledge and impregnating two teenage sisters. Nduka Anyanwu, who is facing a two-count charge of defilement, confessed to committing the crimes on Wednesday. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. A. The Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja on Wednesday, fixed Sept. 2 for definite hearing in a suit seeking to stop the National Insurance Commission, NAICOM, from proceeding with its planned recapitalisation process of insurance and reinsurance companies in the country. Justice Ahmed Mohammed fixed the date after taking arguments from counsel representing the parties in the matter. The President of African Development Bank, AfDB, Dr Akinwumi Adesina says 141 million people have benefitted from improved agricultural technologies to enhance food security in the last five years he assumed office. Adesina made this known during the opening of the bank’s Annual General Meeting, AGM, held virtually on Wednesday. He said about 18 million people now had access to electricity, while 15 million people had access to finance. Flash floods have killed more than 100 people in northern Afghanistan, officials said on Wednesday, with the death toll expected to climb as an operation to recover more bodies was under way. The disaster in Parwan province has wounded more than 250 people, destroyed more than 500 houses and washed away streets in the provincial capital Charikar. The Afghan National Management Authority and the Defence Ministry have helped 5,000 families with food and non-food aid packages, a spokesman for the agency, Hasibullah Shaikhani, said. The African Export-Import Bank, Afreximbank, says it has approved a $400 million revolving global credit facility agreement for the Export Trading Group (ETG), one of the largest and fastest-growing integrated agricultural conglomerates in Africa. The Managing Director of Afreximbank’s Intra-African Trade Initiative, Mr Kanayo disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday. The three-year facility, he stated, would strengthen Africa’s agricultural networks as well as bolster the continent’s food security. The Delta State Police Command, have arrested a 46-year-old security guard, for allegedly raping an eight-year-old daughter of a pastor.
