The Zamfara Coordination Office of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) has joined a review mission aimed at boosting livestock production delivery across 30 states.
The state is participating in the ongoing Implementation Support Mission (ISM) holding in Yola, Adamawa State, to ensure effective delivery of the Project Development Objective (PDO) in Zamfara.
The L-PRES State Project Coordinator, Mohammed Nasiru, disclosed this in a statement made available to reporters in Gusau on Friday.
L-PRES is a six-year, $500 million initiative funded by the World Bank and the Federal Government of Nigeria to modernise the country’s livestock sector across 30 states.
Nasiru is leading a team of key technical and administrative officers of the project to the five-day Implementation Support Mission holding from 5 to 10 October in Yola, Adamawa.
The coordinator said the mission is reviewing project implementation progress, identifying emerging challenges, and strengthening coordination to ensure effective delivery of the PDO.
“The Zamfara delegation is led by the State Project Coordinator, Mohammed Nasiru, alongside key technical and administrative officers of the project.
“The sessions provided an opportunity for participating State Coordination Offices to engage with the mission team on implementation experiences, achievements, challenges and priority actions required to accelerate project activities.
“At the mission, the State Project Coordinator presented the Zamfara L-PRES implementation progress report highlighting all the achievements recorded by the SCO, including livestock development infrastructure.
“The infrastructure was constructed/rehabilitated, while capacity building and trainings were conducted for project beneficiaries, input support was given to livestock farmers, a statewide vaccination exercise was carried out, and other technical supports were provided by the project,” he said.
According to him, the Zamfara team reaffirmed its commitment to the effective implementation of L-PRES in the state, particularly in improving livestock productivity, building resilience among livestock-dependent communities and promoting sustainable commercialisation across priority livestock value chains.
Nasiru said the Task Team Leader (TTL) and the National Project Coordinator (NPC) expressed their sincere commendation for the Zamfara L-PRES, specifically highlighting the high quality of infrastructure delivered through the project.
He said the Zamfara Coordination Office expressed appreciation to the L-PRES National Coordination Office (NCO) and mission team for the continued technical support, guidance and constructive engagement aimed at strengthening project implementation across participating states.
