Some Internally Displace Persons (IDPs) at Damare camp in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa have called for inclusion in the federal government’s palliatives to cushion the effect of petroleum subsidy removal.
They made the call in seperate interviews on Sunday.
The Women Leader in the camp, Ladi John said that about 227 households need food support.
“I am appealing to government to come to our aid we were affected by flood in 2022 and also the removal of fuel subsidy, these resulted to our current situation in the camp,” she said.
Also speaking, Mr Andrawus Ali, an IDP, said that inclusion of IDPs in the palliatives distribution would ease the sufferings.
He said that some of the IDPs had been trained on different trades but the could not continue due to high cost of living.
“We suffered a lot and affected by 2022 flood but none of us benefitted from the distribution of relief materials,” he said, must of us were not been considered,” he said.
Corroborating earlier opinion, Muhammad Abdullah said tha IDPs they took sheltef for about seven years in the camp inspite of different challenges.
“We have families that we must provide for them with these challenges and the removal of fuel subsidy we find it difficult to cater for our need hence the need for government and wealth to do individual to intervene,” he said.
