Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA), through its Rapid Response Team (RRT), has facilitated specialist orthopedic care for three vulnerable patients at Sir Muhammad Sunusi Specialist Hospital, Kano.
This was announced on Tuesday in Kano by Aminu Turaki, Public Relations Officer of the agency.
The statement said the intervention was directed by KSCHMA’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Rahila Muktar, as part of efforts to ensure vulnerable residents access quality healthcare regardless of financial constraints.
One beneficiary, Yusuf Isah, who sustained severe leg injuries in a road traffic accident, underwent leg amputation after specialist evaluation determined it was necessary to save his life and prevent further complications. Isah is currently recovering under medical supervision.
Another beneficiary, Khalid Auwalu, successfully had a complex orthopedic reconstructive surgery on his leg and is recuperating under the care of medical specialists.
The statement also noted that Abubakar Adamu was admitted after completing clinical assessments and diagnostic tests, and he is scheduled for orthopedic surgery.
Muktar reaffirmed KSCHMA’s commitment to providing emergency response, referral coordination, and follow-up care for patients needing specialist treatment.
She said the intervention aligns with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s Kano First Agenda, which emphasizes accessible, equitable, and people-centered healthcare.
The executive secretary commended Dr. Usman Aliyu, the Zonal Medical Director of Sir Muhammad Sunusi Specialist Hospital, for his support and dedication to strengthening emergency referral services in Kano.
She assured that the agency will continue monitoring patients’ progress to ensure successful treatment and recovery.
