The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed the deaths of four persons following a devastating windstorm caused by heavy rainfall in Kware Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Mr Tukur Abubakar, Head of Response, Research, and Statistics at the Sokoto Field Office of NEMA, confirmed this to Ashenews reporters on Monday in Sokoto.
Abubakar stated that NEMA conducted an assessment of the affected communities, including Mallamawa, Mai Mushe, Kaura, Sabon Gari, Rungin Tsamiya, and surrounding settlements in Kware LGA.

“Preliminary findings revealed that hundreds of households were affected, many people sustained injuries, and four deaths were recorded,” Abubakar said.
He added that the assessment team also documented extensive damage to homes and critical public infrastructure, including a primary school and a hospital, highlighting the severity of the incident.
The assessment aimed to determine the extent of the damage and identify the immediate humanitarian needs of the affected communities.
