Following the consideration of a bill to amend the 2021 Appropriation Act, the Senate has extended the implementation of 2021 budget from March 31 to May 31. The Senate before considering the bill suspended Rule 78(1) of the Senate Standing Orders 2022 (as amended), to enable the upper chamber to expeditiously introduce and pass the bill. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has advised political parties to adhere strictly to internal democracy and electoral laws in the conduct of their primaries, ahead of 2023 general elections. The commission gave the advice in a statement by Mr Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee on Tuesday in Abuja.
