Sokoto state governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on Tuesday, received the report of a committee set up to investigate May 12 unrest that claimed the life of a female student, Deborah Samuel at the Shehu Shagari College of Education (SSCOE). The United Nations Children and Education Fund (UNICEF), in collaboration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), have developed a draft national action plan targeted at ending all forms of corporal punishment in schools. Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc has declared a Profit Before Tax (PBT) of N29.73 billion for the half year ended June 30, 2022. The company made the disclosure in a report signed by Mr Anthony Chiejina, the Group Head, Corporate Communications, Dangote Group, on Tuesday in Lagos. The United Nations Children and Education Fund (UNICEF) has facilitated the enrolment of 964,325 out-of-school children from 2012 till date in Sokoto and Zamfara states. UNICEF’s Chief Field Officer in Sokoto, Dr Maryam Darwesh-Said, said this at a three-day Media Dialogue on Girls’ Education Project (GEP3), on Tuesday in Sokoto. A civil servant, Aisha Ari has urged a Kubwa Grade I Area Court to dissolve her two-year-old marriage, saying that she has fallen out of love with her husband, Ibrahim Hassan. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Tuesday said none of its university lecturers has been paid since the union embarked on industrial action in February.
