Yobe state governor, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has approved the payment of N619.5 million for local government pensions and gratuities. Buni, in a statement by his Director-General Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Mohammed in Damaturu, said the payment was for batch 45. He said N449.6 million of the amounts would be paid to 274 retirees, while N169.9 was for the next-of-kin of 93 deceased civil servants. Four people, allegedly transporting diesel illegally, lost their lives in an auto crash on Monday in Ughelli South local government area of Delta. A witness told newsmen that the accident happened early on Monday morning at the popular Ekuigbo Junction on the East/West Road. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it recorded 10.4 million fresh registration in the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) before it suspension on July 31. INEC said this in its CVR Update for Quarter 4, week 16, released on Monday, August 1 in Abuja. The commission also said that during the period, 12.2 million registrants completed their registrations, of which 3.4 million registered online, while 8.8 million registered through physical registration. The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) says it is working to install Category II Instrument Landing systems (CAT II ILS) in Owerri and Jalingo airports that have no ILS presently. The agency’s Acting Managing Director, Mr Lawrence Pwajok, said this in a statement issued in Lagos on Monday.
