The federal government has ordered Vice-Chancellors in universities to re-open schools and to allow students resume lectures. This is contained in a letter signed by the Director, Finance and Accounts of National Universities Commission (NUC), Mr Sam Onazi, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the commission, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed in Abuja on Monday. The Hydro-Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) on Saturday, distributed relief materials to flood victims in Kogi state. The distribution took place simultaneously in three locations: Koto Karfe, Adavi and Ajaokuta to cover the 10 local government areas affected. The relief materials included bags of rice, beans, millet, noodles, salt, blankets, detergents, mattresses and bundles of zinc. The Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) has donated relief materials worth more than N50 million to flood victims in Patigi local government area of Kwara state. HYPPADEC’s Director of Community and Rural Development, Dr Mahmud Muhammed, presented the items to Etsu Patigi, Umar Bologi on Sunday in Patigi. The items presented included: beddings, food items, detergents and treated mosquito nets, among others.
