Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Academy, also known as Future Academy, and the Sen. Oluremi Tinubu Clinic in Hadejia, Jigawa State.
The academy was established by FutureMap Foundation in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Agenda and facilitated by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to advance innovation.
Speaking at the inauguration, Tinubu said both facilities form an integrated ecosystem designed to bridge digital innovation with community healthcare while promoting sustainable development and economic opportunities.
She described the academy as a comprehensive institution aimed at transforming technical knowledge into economic value and practical community solutions through innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven development.
Tinubu said the campus includes specialised innovation zones such as a Fabrication Laboratory and Maker Space equipped for hardware prototyping, robotics, artificial intelligence, and health-technology research.
The laboratory supports robotics and AI hardware development with a special focus on health technology, including wearable devices, diagnostic solutions, and advanced prosthetic research.
She added that the facility has end-to-end prosthetic development capabilities using 3D scanning, 3D printing, mould-making, and advanced casting techniques to support innovative healthcare solutions for underserved communities.
Tinubu noted that the academy’s innovation laboratory provides a dynamic co-working environment that blends modern technical utility with natural materials and ergonomic furniture to inspire creativity and collaboration.
“The lab is anchored by an AI interactive screen that functions as a real-time digital tutor for learners,” she said.
She added that the academy also features a pitch space for startups, computer training classrooms, a Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre, an auditorium, and a residential hostel for 60 trainees.
According to Tinubu, the clinic will serve as both a primary healthcare provider and a practical deployment centre for health-technology solutions developed at the academy.
“The health facility is designed to bring critical, life-saving services closer to the people,” she said.
She highlighted that the clinic includes a dedicated dialysis centre, a standard operating theatre, a labour and maternity room, and an integrated oxygen supply system in every ward.
Earlier, NITDA Director-General, Mr Kashifu Abdullahi, thanked the First Lady for inaugurating the projects. He commended President Bola Tinubu for supporting the academy, describing both initiatives as significant investments in technology innovation and healthcare delivery in Jigawa State.
