The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has observed that involving students in future negotiations between the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, would bring a sense of urgency to the table during such negotiations. The National Pension Commission (PenCom) on Wednesday said it was putting in place an automated process to ensure seamless conduct of the annual verification/enrolment within the first quarter of 2021 . Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti on Tuesday presented a cheque of N100 million for the payment of gratuities to 41 retired local government workers and primary school teachers in the state for December. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, says the country has recorded 999 new cases of coronavirus infections. The new cases tweeted on its Twitter handle @NCDCGov Tuesday night saw the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, recording the highest of 416, followed by Lagos, 324. It also showed that the least state was Jigawa, which recorded one case. According to the tweet, since the outbreak of the virus in February 2019, a total of 79,789 cases have been confirmed, 68,879 were discharged and 1,231 deaths record. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has provided additional capacity development support to laboratories of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) . The support, which is the Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) test kits, was aimed at strengthening detection and response to public health threats in Nigeria especially in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
