The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, Thursday night announced 296 new cases of COVID-19. The Centre through its Twitter handle, @NCDCgov said the total had rose to 53,317. Of the new cases, Plateau, of the 17 states, maintained its lead for third day running with 85 cases, with Enugu and Oyo recording 46 and 31, respectively. Others are Lagos-21, Rivers-20, FCT-15, Kaduna-13, Bauchi-12, Delta-11 and Ekiti-11. Others are Akwa Ibom-7, Ebonyi-6, Kwara-5, Ogun-4, Osun-4, Gombe-3, Niger-2. A total of 40,726 persons have been discharged and 1,011 recorded as deaths.

An auto crash, involving four vehicles, has claimed 12 lives of supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Zamfara.
