The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, Friday night reported 160 new cases of COVID-19. The total number of infections now stands at 53,477. The Centre through its Twitter handle @NCDCGov, said Plateau recorded 44 cases, while Lagos followed with 27 cases. The states as reported by NCDC are as follows: Plateau-44Lagos-27Katsina-18Edo-15FCT-14Ondo-10Oyo-9Kwara-6Abia-4Nasarawa-4Kano-3Ekiti-2Kaduna-2Kebbi-1Ogun-1 The NCDC further stated that a total of 41,017, have been discharged with 1,011 recorded as deaths.

Stakeholders from the three senatorial zones stated their demands during a consultative meeting aimed at preparing the 2021 budget. A Brazilian high court on Friday, suspended the Governor of Rio de Janeiro, Mr Wilson Witzel from office, while police raided his official residence to probe accusations that he stole emergency funds meant to fight the coronavirus pandemic. The Federal Government of Nigeria, has warned Ghanaian authorities against further harassment of its citizens resident in the country. Nigerian traders in Ghana have recently had their shops sealed, with the Ghanaian government reportedly demanding payment of taxes considered outrageous by the traders. Irate youths in Akure, in Ondo state, nearly lynched a 32-year old father, Muyiwa Ayorinde for allegedly dumping his three weeks old baby into a canal. The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has confirmed that two persons died in a helicopter crash at Opebi in Ikeja, Lagos. The Acting Coordinator of the Lagos Territorial Office of NEMA, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the development in an interview in Lagos.
