ASHENEWS reports that the Commander of 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Gusau, Zamfara state, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed has donated 100 sets of BAOFENG Communication Radios (Walkie talkies) to members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

This online platform further reports that the donation, done in a brief ceremony at the Headquarters of the 1 Brigade on Wednesday, is an effort to enhance the cordial civil-military cooperation as well as strengthen security in the state.

This is contained in a statement by the acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations
1 Brigade Nigerian Army, Captain Yahaya Arama

In his remarks, the Brigade Commander, Brig.-Gen. Ahmed said “the donation of the Baofeng Radios is part of his Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) to the host communities and to enhance the operational capacity of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in the state.”

According to him, the donation would aid the CJTF to carry out their responsibilities in securing lives and property in their respective communities effectively.

Brigadier General Ahmed commended the efforts of the CJTF in the roles they have been playing in protecting their community, and urged them to make maximum good use of the communication gadgets to enhance their operational capacity and to ensure adequate protection of lives and property within their various communities in the state.

The Commander further reiterated the respect to human rights and urged the CJTF not to indulge in extra judicial killing while carrying out their responsibilities.

He also charged the CJTF for adequate information sharing amongst the Vigilantes and to improve on their level of alertness in their communities.

The Chairman Civilian Joint Task Force, Ahmed Mohammed thanked the Commander 1 Brigade for his noble gestures and recognizing the efforts of the CJTF.

He confirmed that they earlier received motorcycles from the commander to support their operations, and therefore assured the Commander that the Baofeng Communication Radios will greatly enhance their operational activities in the State.

Mohammed further assured that they will operate according to the laid down rules and regulations and respect to human rights.
