The Board of Directors of Nigeria LNG Ltd. (NLNG) has approved the supply of 100 per cent of the company’s LPG production (propane and butane) to the Nigerian market. The NLNG made this known in a statement issued by Mr Andy Odeh, General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, on Thursday in Lagos. The statement said NLNG would prioritise the domestic market with 100 per cent of its butane production, otherwise known as cooking gas. EU foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, on Thursday said the European Union would impose sanctions on Mali in line with measures already taken by the ECOWAS grouping of West African states. The University of Lagos (Unilag) has postponed the 2021/2022 matriculation ceremony earlier scheduled for Friday, January 15. Dr Musa Obalola, Acting Dean, Student Affairs Division of Unilag, said in a statement that the postponement was due to what he described as “unforeseen circumstances”. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has recommended a combination of baricitinib, an arthritic drug, and corticosteroids for the treatment of patients with severe or critical COVID-19. Baricitinib is a type of drug known as a Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor, also used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. The WHO Guideline Development Group of international experts gave the recommendation in the British Medical Journal (The BMJ) on Thursday. According to the experts, the recommendation was based on moderate certainty evidence that it improves survival and reduces the need for ventilation; and shows no observed increase in adverse effects. President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that two major federal roads under construction would be completed and inaugurated before the end of 2022. The roads are the Sagamu-Benin Expressway and the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said the U.S. had proposed to UN to impose new sanctions on North Korea for six missile launches conducted by Pyongyang since September 2021.
