The Joint Task Force (JTF) has intercepted a large number of herdsmen, believed to be Fulani, who have the intention of settling down in Kwara. The JTF is made up of personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigerian Army and the Police. The governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Dr Godwin Emefiele on Thursday disclosed that at the end of June 2021, commercial banks in Nigeria refunded N89.2 billion to customers over complaints. Emefiele made the disclosure during a CBN Fair held simultaneously in Cross River and Akwa Ibom with the theme “Promoting financial stability and economic development”. Katsina governor, Aminu Bello-Masari has told the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen Faruk Yahaya that 10 of the 34 local government areas in the state were under severe attack daily by bandits. Video Assistant Referees (VAR) will be used in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Europe, starting from September 2022, continental football ruling body UEFA said Thursday. The light-touch use of VAR at Euro 2020 was widely praised, and UEFA will hope those standards are maintained in the qualifiers for Qatar, with the group stages concluding in November. At least 24 Chadian army soldiers were killed on the night of Aug. 4 to 5 during an attack by the Boko Haram terrorists in the Lake Chad region, several Chadian media reported Thursday, citing local sources.
