Fuel scarcity and long queues of vehicles are major issues of discussions in Kano with most petrol filling stations shut claiming the product is not available, SOLACEBASE has reported.
The development followed the pronouncement by President Bola Ahmed-Tinubu during his inaugural address on Monday to end petroleum subsidy regime in the country.
It was observed in Kano on Wednesday that the few filling stations that are dispensing fuel sell from N400 to N560 per litre while others shut their gates.
An independent oil marketer, AY Shafa on Murtala Mohammed Way in Kano despite dispensing fuel for N560 per litre has a very long queue of vehicles.
A motorist, Yahaya Gezawa said he has stayed on the queue for more than an hour to buy the product, despite the unusual hike to N560.
Gezawa said he came from Gezawa Local Government Area, to refill his car as the filling stations in his area were not dispensing petrol to consumers.
“I had been searching for where to buy fuel since morning before one of my friends told me to come to this filling station along Hadejia road.
Another motorist, Caleb Oyewo said he had tried to buy the product at a filling station at the N300 pump price, but gave up due to long queues.
Most of the motorists expressed sadness over the sudden change in the price of fuel that has skyrocketed to unbelievable hike of above N500.
They appealed to the Federal Government to urgently address the problem.
