The chairman of All Progressives Party, APC, Security Committee in Zamfara, Col. Rabiu Yandoto (rtd), has blamed former state governor, Abdulaziz Yari and Sen. Kabiru Marafa for the escalation of insecurity in the state.

Yandoto made the shocking revelation while announcing his exit from the APC and, along with over 300 of his supporters, joining the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the Government House, Gusau on Friday.

According to a statement by the Director General, Media Public Enlightenment and Communications, Yusuf Idris made available to ASHENEWS on Friday, the APC chieftain alleged that the escalation of insecurity in the state is being sponsored by the APC bigwigs.

He added that as the acting Chairman of APC Security Committee, he has “very useful documents linking the former governor Abdulaziz Yari and Marafa as the cause of escalating insecurity in the area.”

Yandoto stated that during the 2019 elections, Marafa sponsored the killing of three people from Yandoton Daji and gave their names as Alhaji Yusuf AG Yandoto who was the APC ward Chairman, Bala Yakubu, who was also a ward Exco and Abdullahi Halliru who was a polling unit chairman all in Yandoton Daji ward.

He further alleged that he has all the evidence in his possession incriminating Senator Marafa as the one who supplied the perpetrators with Dane Guns and other dangerous weapons to execute his hatchet plan.

The retired military officer further said that he has since written a petition concerning the matter to the Police and copied same to the State APC acting Chairman, Lawali Liman and the then Tsafe local government council chairman, Aliyu Abubakar MC and later filed a suit in the court of law and currently pursuing.

He appealled to president Muhammadu Buhari and governor Bello Muhammad to ensure that justice is done to the deceased persons and their suffering families  to serve as deterrent to all politicians who are aiding insecurity in the country.

Yandoto said he defected to the PDP in order to complement the efforts of governor Bello Muhammad in tackling insecurity in the state, believing that it is was the best way he could contribute in that direction.

Welcoming Yandoto and his supporters to the PDP, Governor Muhammad said his administration is determined to end  insecurity in the state, expressing confidence that with fervent prayers offered by the good people of Zamfara, the challenges will soon be history.

The Shattiman Sakkwato also assured them of equal opportunity in the party and called on them to continue to support his government in its fight against banditry and other criminal activities.

He promised to ensure justice to all in the state irrespective of political or religious inclinations.

The Governor also expressed his happiness on how APC political big-wigs were joining PDP on daily basis in the state.

He also described it as a sign of acceptance of his government’s leadership style, policies and programmes especially in the fight against armed banditry and other criminalities.

The event was attended by the PDP Chairman, Tukur Maikatako, Secretary to the State Government, Bala Maru, Former Deputy Governor, Muktar Anka, Deputy Chief of Staff Government House, Dr Bashir Maru, Commissioners, Special Advisers, PDP Exco and many party supporters.
