The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has extended maintenance work on the Jos, Bauchi and Gombe 330kV single-circuit transmission line to complete Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) installation.
TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Yola.
Mbah said the maintenance, which started earlier this year, would now run until June 30, 2026. The extension will allow contractors to finish OPGW stringing along the 276-kilometre Jos-Bauchi-Gombe transmission line corridor.
She noted that customers of Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) and Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) will experience limited power supply during the period. Affected areas include Bauchi, Gombe, Damaturu, and Maiduguri.

Power supply will be reduced between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. from Thursdays to Sundays. Yola, Jalingo, and neighbouring communities will have no electricity during these outage periods.
Mbah assured customers that power will be restored at the end of each day’s maintenance. She apologised for the inconvenience and appealed for the understanding of affected customers.
She added that efforts are being intensified to complete the project on schedule. Upon completion, the project will improve grid monitoring, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen the reliability of electricity transmission in the area.
