The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Monday protested the abduction of 42 pupils and teachers from public schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on May 15.
Members of the association, joined by civil society organisations, marched in their hundreds through Bodija, Mokola, Iwo Road, Gate/Bus Stop, and the state Secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan.
The protesters carried placards with inscriptions demanding the immediate release of all the victims.

Speaking to journalists, student leader Mr. Moses Olawole decried the government’s negligence and delayed response in securing the release of the abductees.
Olawole said that with decisive action from the government, the situation would not have lasted this long — nearly three weeks.
He warned that the protest would continue daily until the pupils and teachers are released. He added that students would march to Aso Rock, Abuja, for a national protest by June 8 if the abductees are not freed.
Security personnel were deployed to maintain law and order during the protest.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sunday Odukoya, Executive Assistant on Security Matters to Governor Seyi Makinde, who monitored the protest, declined to comment on the matter.
The protest was still ongoing at the time of filing this report.
