Former Zamfara deputy governor during Abdulaziz Yari administration, Ibrahim Wakkala has formerly dumped the All Progressive Congress, APC, for the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, in the state.
Disclosing this at a press conference at his Gada Biyu residence in Gusau on Wednesday, Wakkala who served for 8 years as deputy governor said his decision was based on various consultations.
“After consulting my former governor Abdulaziz Yari, my family, friends, well wishers and political mentors, I have formerly decamped to PDP,” Wakkala said.
According to him, rumours have gone round for two years that he had defected to the PDP as a result of his closeness to governor Bello Mohammed.
“All along, governor Muhammad has been listening and taking my advise on the development and security of the state, which I consider as a honour to me.
“To God, the governor has begged me to join his party. After consulting with my political associates, I have now joined PDP at my Galadima ward, local government and state levels,” he said.
Wakkala maintained that he would continue to be friendly to all friends, associates irrespective of his defection to his new party.
“Before my decision to leave APC for PDP, I have written to my former boss, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar and my former party, APC in the state,” he added.
