The Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike has reacted to the former Minister of Transportation, and his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi’s claim that he spends N50 million from the state resources on alcohol weekly.
Describing him as a drunkard, Amaechi on Wednesday, alleged that Wike spends N50 million weekly from the state resources on alcohol.

Amaechi’s stated this during the campaign for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Tonye Cole, in the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of the State.
According to him, the money Wike spends on alcohol in two weeks, is almost equivalent to the amount he (Amaechi) spent to build one primary school when he served as governor.
However, reacting to Amaechi’s claim Wike, who spoke at a solidarity rally in Port Harcourt in Thursday, said he would drink more instead of using state resources to destroy families.
According to him, Amaechi is angry that he wants to drink 40 years old whiskey to celebrate the victory of the PDP governorship candidate, Siminalaye Fubara.
“Somebody said I spend N50 million to drink in a week, but it is better than spending the money to destroy homes. I like to enjoy myself. They are angry that I want to drink 40 years old whiskey to celebrate Fubara’s victory, this time I will bring 80 years old whiskey for the celebration.”
