A former Deputy Governor in Niger state, Ahmed Musa Ibeto has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Before his resignation, Ibeto was a member of the APC’s Presidential Campaign Council.
Ibeto served as deputy governor under the Muazu Babangida Aliyu administration between 2007 and 2015.
He announced his resignation in a letter dated January 3rd, 2023 and addressed to the Ibeto Central Ward of the APC chairman in Magama local government area of the state and sighted by ASHENEWS.
He cited lack of cohesion among party members as his reason for dumping the party, barely two months to the 2023 general elections.
“Mr. Chairman, with my many years of active participation in politics and as a former party administrator, an elected official into many political offices, I have come to this conclusion for many reasons.
“Chiefly among them are the absence of unity of purpose among party members and stakeholders occasioned by Internal conflict, unending litigations, internal threats and counter threats of anti-party activities, lack of genuine reconciliation coupled with lack of commitments and dedication to the success of the party by many stakeholders.
“For these obvious reasons, I concluded that I can’t continue to be a member of the party,” the letter reads.
ASHENEWS reports that Ibeto first joined the APC in 2015, shortly after he lost the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket.
In 2018, he again dumped the APC to rejoin the PDP.
Barely a year after, he pitched tents with three other PDP governorship aspirants to join the APC and was a member until his resignation on Tuesday.
