The Dangote Group has announced a strategic partnership with Honeywell International Inc. to support the next phase of expansion at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, enabling a capacity upgrade to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028.

Under the agreement, Honeywell will provide advanced catalysts, equipment, and process technologies to help the refinery process a wider range of crude grades while enhancing product quality and operational efficiency.

Honeywell — a global Fortune 100 industrial and technology company — has been a key technology partner to Dangote since 2017 through its UOP division, which supplies proprietary refining systems, catalyst regeneration units, high-performance column trays, and heat-exchange technologies.

As part of the broader collaboration, Dangote is also scaling its petrochemical operations. The Group will expand its polypropylene output to 2.4 million metric tonnes annually, powered by Honeywell’s Oleflex technology. Polypropylene is widely used in packaging, manufacturing, and automotive production.

The Group is simultaneously pushing forward with the next phase of its fertiliser expansion plan. Dangote will increase urea production from 3 million to 9 million metric tonnes per year by adding four new production trains to the existing two.

The Dangote Group reaffirmed its commitment to building world-class industrial capacity, strengthening Nigeria’s energy security, and driving sustainable economic growth through long-term investment and strategic global partnerships.
