The retired president of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, has pegged ‘lie tag’ on her husband, Sen. Adamu Bulkachuwa by denying his allegations that she compromised her oath of office to favour some politicians at his instance.
ASHENEWS reported Sen. Bulkachuwa claiming at the Senate Valedictory Session, that he encroached into his wife’s decisions to deliver judgements in his colleagues’ favour.
The comment of Senator Bulkachuwa, which video has gone viral and elicited outrage from the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), and former NBA President Olisa Agbakoba, among others, calling for an investigation into cases handled by Justice Bulkachuwa.
However, a statement over the weekend, suggests that her husband ‘lied against her’, Justice Bulkachuwa said throughout her 40-years career, she never compromised her oath of office for any individual or group.

According to Justice Bulkachuwa, her decisions were always based on the facts, the law and in accordance with my conscience and oath of office.
Text of Bulkachuwa’s statement debunking her husband’s claim
“My attention has been drawn to the trending video of what was said by my husband Senator Adamu M. Bulkachuwa. I want to state categorically that I never at any time compromised my oath of office to favour any party who appeared before me throughout my judicial career spanning 40 years of service to my country.
“My decisions were always based on the facts, the law and in accordance with my conscience and oath of office.
“Also, as President of the Court of Appeal, my fellow justices of the court can attest to the fact that I never interfered with the independence of any of the justices of the court in the discharge of their judicial functions,” Justice Bulkachuwa stated.
