Wife of the Anambra Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has described malaria as a preventable disease that continues to pose a major public health challenge, particularly for children and pregnant women.
In a message on Saturday marking World Malaria Day, Soludo called for renewed collective action against the disease.
World Malaria Day is observed every April 25 to raise awareness and highlight global efforts to eradicate malaria. The theme for 2026 is “Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must.”
Soludo emphasized that the fight against malaria requires awareness, sustained action, and shared responsibility among individuals, families, and government institutions.
She noted that simple preventive measures, such as using insecticide-treated mosquito nets, maintaining clean environments, and seeking prompt medical attention, remain key to reducing malaria cases and saving lives.

“A malaria-free society is possible. Now we can. Now we must,” she concluded.
