The ongoing efforts to boost infrastructure and enhance teaching and learning at the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA breakthrough on Friday 27th February, 2026 with the handover of a set of purposely built laboratories for use by the School of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Health Sciences.

The University Management at the behest of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji had last year handed the old health center of the University to WEKAN Construction Company to be upgraded into laboratories for the department of Medical Laboratory Sciences MLS and the department of Public Health.

Professor Oladiji at the event pointed out that with the completion of the laboratory project, critical needs of the school of basic sciences have now been provided and that courses due for accreditation will be approved with ease since additional facilities are now on ground.

Oladiji said, “The project was born out of the desire to provide a conducive teaching and learning environment for our students. We will continue to meet the needs of the College of Health Sciences in terms of physical infrastructure because infrastructure is key to accreditation.” Prof. also, Oladiji appreciated the Tertiary Education Trust Fund TETFUND for sponsoring the project.

Oladiji later handed over the laboratories to the School Of Basic Medical Sciences in the presence of the Provost of the College of Health Sciences Prof. Biodun Olagbuji. He appreciated the Vice Chancellor and management for providing additional equipment and infrastructure which according to him will certainly facilitate accreditation of courses in the College
