The Dangote Group says its two billion-dollar granulated urea fertiliser plant located at Ibeju Lekki, Lagos will begin operation before the end of December. The spokesperson of the group, Mr Anthony Chiejina who confirmed the development in Lagos, said: “The project will be ready for take-off before the end of December. ”The pre-testing has already been done and the delay in starting operations was due to the COVID-19 pandemic.” Mr Aliko Dangote, Chief Executive Officer, Dangote Group, had in February projected that the plant would begin operations in July. Police on Wednesday said Zimbabwean journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono was re-arrested, after authorities accused him of contempt of court for using Twitter. Police spokesperson Paul Nyathi told dpa that “I can confirm that Hopewell Chin’ono was arrested on Tuesday and is currently in police custody waiting to appear in court. Zimbabwean police earlier said Chin’ono was using his Twitter handle to “undermine the integrity of the courts.’’ Chin’ono was out on bail after spending more than a month in pre-trial custody facing charges of inciting mass demonstrations. A total of 137 new infections of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic were reported in Nigeria on Tuesday, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). The NCDC made this known via its verified website on Tuesday. The public health agency said the new infections bring the country’s total number of COVID -19  to 63,173. Cambodia has reported 7,668 cases of malaria in the first nine months of 2020, a 70-per cent drop from 25,499 over the same period in 2019. Health Minister Mam Bunheng told Xinhua on Wednesday that “among the reported cases, there have been no deaths.’’ Bunheng added that the kingdom has achieved zero death from malaria three years earlier than the self-imposed target. Voters in several U.S. states backed measures to decriminalise marijuana and some psychedelic drugs in referendums. According to the board of elections on Wednesday, with ballots still being counted in the nation’s capital, Washington, 77 per cent of voters are saying yes to effectively decriminalising a range of psychedelic plants and mushrooms. U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed victory in Tuesday’s presidential election with millions of votes yet to be counted. In remarks at the White House, Trump alleged that there was a “major fraud” in ongoing counting of votes and vowed to mount a legal challenge. Twitter has imposed restriction on a tweet by U.S. President Trump in which he alleges attempt by unnamed persons to “steal the election”. “We are up BIG, but they are trying to STEAL the Election.
