The Director General of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Alhaji Salihu Lukman has said that the lack of visibly identified leadership for the EndSARS protesters was capable of forestalling any negotiations with the Federal Government. He said this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, adding that the lack of visible leadership was not advantageous to the protest as it made it vulnerable to takeover by hoodlums, who caused mayhem in several parts of the country. “The disadvantage of protests with undercover or virtual leadership, especially by young people in an emerging democracy like Nigeria, is that potentials for leadership…

Those words were rehashed again recently, at the 50th anniversary of Arewa House in Kaduna by Governor Kayode Fayemi, in his keynote address at the occasion. For Fayemi, the import of Sardauna’s unique call is the…

Instead, we have a unique opportunity to change our relationship with nature by shifting our development pathway to one that is equitable and sustainable. Development Finance Institutions may be the “visible hand” that can guide and finance the future we want – but Africa will remain under the proverbial thumb of skyrocketing debt and climate catastrophe if the new vision of development financing remains all talk and no action at the…
