Bitget Wallet has launched a stablecoin-powered virtual card in Nigeria to help users manage digital-dollar savings and make international payments.
The company’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr Alvin Kan, disclosed this in a statement made available to reporters on Tuesday in Lagos.
Kan said stablecoins were becoming practical financial tools in markets such as Nigeria.
“Stablecoins are becoming a practical financial tool in markets like Nigeria, but their potential goes well beyond holding or transferring digital dollars,” he said.
He said the company was working to integrate income reception, savings management, investments and everyday payments into a connected financial experience.
According to Kan, the virtual card, issued through the company’s mobile app, enables users to spend stablecoin balances at Visa merchants worldwide.
“It supports Google Pay for online and contactless payments and offers up to three per cent cashback on eligible purchases.
“Rewards are paid in USDC, Bitcoin, gold, tokenised stocks or exchange-traded funds,” he said.
Kan said Nigeria, Sub-Saharan Africa’s largest cryptocurrency market, received more than 92.1 billion dollars in cryptocurrency value between July 2024 and June 2025, citing blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis.
He also cited an International Monetary Fund paper published in June, which estimated that Nigeria accounted for about 60 per cent of stablecoin inflows into the region since 2019.
Kan said Bitget Wallet also offered USD and EUR virtual accounts for receiving international bank transfers and converting them into stablecoins.
He added that the platform enabled users to convert stablecoins into naira for deposits into Nigerian bank accounts.
The launch comes amid changes to Nigeria’s digital asset regulatory framework.
Kan said the Investments and Securities Act 2025 classified digital assets as securities under the oversight of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
He added that the SEC published proposed rules covering digital asset operations, custody and markets in August.
To mark the launch, Bitget Wallet is offering rewards to new users from Nov. 3 to Nov. 13, Kan said.
Eligible users who complete designated “Welcome Offer” tasks will receive a guaranteed two dollars, with rewards of up to 20 dollars.
Users whose cumulative spending through Google Pay or Google Play reaches at least 10 dollars will also qualify for a separate two-USDC bonus.
USDC is a stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar.
