The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday, recorded nine more deaths and 1,624 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 137,754. The country has so far tested 1,302,410 people since the first confirmed case of COVID-19 was recorded on Feb. 27, 2020, in the country. The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, has released the list of Visitation Panels to 25 Federal Polytechnics and 21 Colleges of Education as approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, with a directive to submit their reports in six weeks. Gunmen have opened fire on commuters and killed six along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road. A statement by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan on Friday, said the bandits, reported to be on the run from security agencies in the Birnin Gwari general area, took to the highway around Ungwan Dangedda. The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on Friday said 62.63 per cent of electricity consumers in the country were on estimated billing as at September 2020. NERC stated this in the 2019 to Quarter 3, 2020 Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) Key Financial and Operational Data, obtained from its website in Lagos. South Korea’s drug safety agency said Friday it has approved pharmaceutical giant Celltrion Inc.’s COVID-19 treatment candidate on several conditions. Yonhap reports that the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, said CT-P59 can be administered to COVID-19 patients at higher risk. Ghana’s exports contracted by 7.8 per cent year-on-year to US$14.5 billion in 2020, mainly because of a significant drop of US$1.6 billion in crude oil export receipts on the back of low prices, the Bank of Ghana has announced. An American missionary and philanthropist who set up an orphanage in Kenya has been sent to 15 years in prison and a lifetime of supervision after his conviction for sex crime and abuse of teenage children, a US attorney said on Thursday.
