The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on the federal government, to compensate farmers whose crops were destroyed by herdsmen’s cows. In a statement by its Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola on Friday, MURIC suggested that the compensation which could be instalmental, should be paid to farmers whose farms were destroyed in all states of the federation. Nigeria’s apex bank, Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has ordered Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) and other financial institutions to close accounts of persons who are using their systems for cryptocurrency trading in the country. Nigerian government has placed a 72-hour suspension on Emirates outbound flights. This is contained in a circular by the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Musa Nuhu on Thursday. It disclosed that the airline was suspended because it violated guidelines placed by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19. They disclosed this in an interview on Friday in Lagos against the backdrop of NSE’s transition to a demutualised exchange. Demutualisation of a stock exchange is a process by which a non-profit, member/ brokers owned mutual exchange is converted into a profit seeking shareholder corporation, open to members of the public. The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) says Nigeria will earn about $500 million from the signature bonuses to be awarded for 57 marginal oilfields in the country. The agency said the bid round processes for the oilfields which began in June 2020 would be concluded by the end of the first quarteruarter of 2021. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has registered 1,340 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infected people in the country to 136,030. The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Thursday. The country has so far tested 1,302,410  people since the COVID-19 index case was recorded on Feb. 27, 2020. The NCDC also confirmed additional 14 coronavirus-related deaths in the last 24 hours,  bringing the total number of those who had succumbed to the disease to 1,632.
