Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday temporary halted the re-trial of former Abia Governor, Sen. Orji Kalu, on alleged corruption charges. Justice Ekwo temporarily stayed the re-trial while delivering ruling in an application by Kalu seeking leave to file a motion against his re-trial for alleged fraud committed when he served as governor of Abia between 1999 and 2007. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has responded to reactions by ections of Nigerians on the reasons for banning trade in cryptocurrencies. A statement by Acting Director, Corporate Communications, CBN, Osita Nwanisobi said unregulated trading in cryptocurrency fuels illicit financial flow and terrorism. Bandits on Saturday killed 19 persons in Kutemeshi village of Kuyello District of Birnin-Gwari local government area of Kaduna. The bandits invaded the community around 5pm on Saturday. The Kaduna state government has announced the killings of 19 persons by suspected bandits in Birnin Gwari and Kajuru local government areas of the state on Saturday.
