The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has appointed Nigeria’s big telecoms service providers, MTN, Airtel, as well as money deposit banks in the country to withhold Value Added Tax (VAT) charged on all taxable supplies made to them and remit to the Service. Twitter will permanently suspend users who impersonate authentic accounts on the social media platform, new owner Elon Musk has revealed. “Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended,” Musk tweeted. “Previously, we issued a warning before suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning.” Musk also said any name change at all will cause temporary loss of the verified checkmark. The Bayelsa State Emergency Management Agency (BYSEMA), says flood has affected no fewer than 1.3million people. This is according to data released on Monday by BYSEMA in Yenogoa. The agency said no fewer than 1.2million were displaced and compelled to seek refuge in temporary camps. “As at November 4, 96 deaths were reported with Yenagoa local government area worst hit,” Mr Walamam Igrubia, BYSEMA Chairman said. The Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Abubakar Rasheed has revealed that the commission received N12 billion in its 2022 budget and is receiving much more in the 2023 appropriation, which the commission did not requested for.
