Former governor of Niger state, Dr Mu’azu Aliyu has commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s incentive package for teachers in Nigeria.
In a statement he signed and made available to ASHENEWSONLINE on Tuesday, Aliyu said that the gesture is heart-warming and would be a recognition of the role of the teachers as moulders of the character of individual citizens.
“The package was a superb morale booster, a cause for joy and laughter as well as for pride to all teachers and lovers of the teaching profession.”
The former governor urged state governments to ensure that the implementation of the incentives is carried out without any hitch or delay.
He also called on well-meaning citizens, educationists and private individuals to support and encourage teachers in the country.
Aliyu tasked those in the noble teaching profession to see the presidential gesture as an offer in appreciation and acknowledgement of their all-important place in the scheme of things and to take the incentives as a call for greater, better service delivery.
“As teachers, you all must resolve to henceforth, be more dedicated, loyal and unwavering in the discharge of your responsibilities in your respective schools, your state and to your employers.
“You must see and appreciate the new increase in both your salary, welfare and the offer of free education to your children as a challenge and a call for redoubling of your commitment”, he said.
