The Adamawa council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has condemned physical assault on its female member and staff of News Department, Adamawa Broadcasting corporation Yola, Mrs Nafeesa Vandi by her husband on Wednesday.
The husband, Ibrahim Aliyu is a sacked staff of PHCN.
A statement by the council chairman, Ishaka Donald Dedan on Wednesday, also described the assault as “heinous, unacceptable, wickedness and barbaric on a professional female practicing Journalist to a stupor by Aliyu.

According to the statement, “though the police has already swung into action to investigate and arrest the perpetrator of the domestic violence, the NUJ calls for a more speedy action towards immediate arrest and prosecution of the said Aliyu in accordance with the extant laws.”
The union further called on national and international organizations including FIDA, UNFPA, UNICEF as well as Civil Society Organizations that are propagating total halt of violence against women, to step in on the matter for justice to prevail.
