The Sultan and President-General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Sa’ad Abubakar has called on Nigerian women to return to their fundamental role of nation building to restore the nation’s dwindling family values.
The Sultan, represented by the Paramount Ruler of Aiyede Kingdom in Ekiti state, AbdulMumini Orishagbemi made the call on the sideline of the Second International and 11th Biannual Conference.
The conference was organised by The Criterion, an Association of Muslim Women in Business and the Professions, was held at the University of Ibadan Mosque Event Hall on Saturday.
The Co-President of Council of the World Religions for Peace headquartered in New York, United States of America, expressed belief that the insecurity in the country could be stopped through right education.
He noted that the best education that could remodel the society, is offered in homes and that the right teachers to impact such knowledge are women.
“It is therefore imperative that while they cannot be caged or pinned down away from taking part in the administration of state and building careers across the professions, women which The Criterion represents, must pay serious attention to their role and ensure that training children to be morally upright across endeavours in the society is not lacking.”
He also called on leaders of the country at all levels to work closely with traditional institutions, women and youth groups in search for solutions towards regaining the family values and national integrity that are required to put the nation back on proper stage for peace, harmony and economic successes.
