The North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has congratulated its Executive Director, Finance, Professor Muhammad Bashar Nuhu, on his election as National President of the Nigeria Environmental Society (NES), describing his emergence as a source of pride to the commission and Northern Nigeria.
Nuhu, the first person from Northern Nigeria to occupy the position, was elected at the society’s 35th National Conference and 36th Annual General Meeting held in Benin City, Edo State, over the weekend.
In a congratulatory statement issued by the Head of Media and Corporate Communications Department of the NCDC, Dr. Makut Simon Macham on Sunday, the NCDC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, said Nuhu’s election reflected his leadership qualities, academic excellence and longstanding commitment to environmental sustainability.
Tsenyil congratulated the new NES president on behalf of the commission’s Governing Board and management, expressing confidence that his emergence would strengthen efforts to address environmental challenges across the country.
He said the appointment was not only a personal achievement for Nuhu but also a source of pride for the NCDC, given the commission’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection in the North Central region.
The NCDC chief executive expressed optimism that Nuhu’s new position would create opportunities for stronger collaboration between the commission and NES in developing practical and sustainable responses to environmental challenges.
He reaffirmed the commission’s readiness to work with the society and other stakeholders to promote environmental protection, climate resilience and sustainable development across the North Central region and Nigeria.
Tsenyil also expressed confidence that Nuhu’s professional experience, knowledge and network would strengthen environmental advocacy, promote best practices and support policies designed to protect the environment for present and future generations.
He wished Nuhu a successful and impactful tenure, praying for the wisdom, strength and good health needed to discharge the responsibilities of his new office.
