Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has suspended indefinitely election process into the Student Union Executive in the school.
A statement from the Acting Registrar, Mohammed Shuaib on Wednesday cited insecurity, undue external interferences and monetisation of the process among other things as reasons.
”Specifically, the University Management took the decision based on heightened cases of insecurity, undue external interference from outside the University and monetisation of the electoral process.
”Other reasons are Influence of unregistered associations/groups/media outlets and Illegal harvest of students’ emails and Login details,” Shuaib said.
He however noted that the current administration remained committed to the democratic process practiced according to the law.
Shuaib said the University was committed to raising future leaders, with character and learning, in line with the age-long values of a university.
