The Nigerian Governors’ Forum, NGF, has assured they were ready to implement financial autonomy for state legislature and judiciary by May 2021.
It’s Chairman and governor of Ekiti, Kayode Fayemi gave the assurance after a meeting with the Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari at Aso Villa on Monday.
According to him, the governors have never opposed financial autonomy for the legislature and judiciary, adding that the governors, speakers and judges were on the same page as far as the issue was concerned.
Kayode said that a meeting with the Solicitor-General of the Federation, representatives judiciary, those of the Conference of Speakers and House of Representatives on Monday agreed on the implementation by May.
