… Cautions ACF against reckless utterances
The Northern Youths Initiative and Political Congress, NOPCO, has cautioned the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other socio-cultural groups against attacking the governor of Zamfara state, Bello Muhammad.
A statement by the chairperson (North) of the group, Yusuf Abubakar made available to ASHENEWS on Sunday, also cautioned the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, credited to it over Zamfara governor’s reaction to northerners leaving in southern Nigeria.
“Governor Muhammad made it clear that enough is enough over the continued attacks on the Hausa people leaving in the South, due to ethnicity and hatred by some criminals across the southern region of Nigeria.
“We are aware that some miscreants under the watchful eyes of their leaders, recently attacked and killed many Hausa people at Orlu, Imo state. This was a few months after same attacks Hausa community in Sasha Market, Ibadan, Oyo state.
“Despite our accomadative posture of giving shelter and protecting their dignity and well-being in the North, on the contrary, our Southern brothers are carrying on open attacks on the Hausa communities and destroying their property in their various areas.
“We were so happy and consoled when the governor of Zamfara state courageously come out and sent a strong warning against such injustice meted out against a particular tribe of this country.
“The northern youths are fully behind him and support such moves to bring a lasting solution and an end to the wanton killings of these innocent people in the south.
“There is justification in his action by reaching out to his colleagues in the North to unite and confront such ugly trends of attacks against the Hausa community in the South.
“We condemn in totality, the meddlesomeness of Ohanaeze and PANDEF on issues that entirely affect the survival of our people, where they questioned the action and reaction of Zamfara governor on the carnage that is happening under their watch and without taking any action to remedy the continue attacks.
“The Ohaneze and PANDEF does not belong to North and cannot threaten northern leaders that have genuine intention of protecting and safe-guarding their people.
“We also frown at ACF’s silence on constant attacks on Northerners as well as their stand against the Zamfara governor and other immenent Northerners that expressed their worries and concern on the escalation of such injustice against Hausa community in the South.
“We call on the ACF to immediately withdraw their statement against Givenror Muhammad and rather seek audience with him and other immenent Northerners in order to bring lasting solution and unite to save our people in the South.
“We also Call on the federal government to urgently compensate victims of theses atrocities as well as create an avenue of bringing unity and cohesion among us.
The Northern Governors Forum should also visit Imo and Anambra states to get to the root of this crisis in order to bring a lasting solution of peace to our people.
