Troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria have neutralised 10 terrorists and rescued 41 kidnapped victims in coordinated nationwide operations within 24 hours.

This was disclosed in an operational report released to reporters on Friday in Abuja.

The report stated that operations conducted between Thursday and Friday also led to arrests and the recovery of arms, ammunition, and logistics.

In the North-West, troops rescued 18 kidnapped civilians after ambushing terrorists at a crossing point in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

“Similarly, troops intensified operations in Zamfara and Kebbi States, arresting suspected collaborators and disrupting terrorist movements,” the report added.

In the North-Central region, troops of Operation Enduring Peace neutralised 10 terrorists during a fierce engagement in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.

“The troops also rescued 21 kidnapped victims during clearance operations in forest enclaves and destroyed several terrorist camps,” it stated.

In Benue, troops arrested a suspected militia leader linked to killings and cattle rustling and recovered the corpse of a slain herder.

Guards Brigade troops apprehended suspected criminals along the Giri–Lugbe axis in the Federal Capital Territory. According to the report, the suspects confessed to operating as a robbery syndicate disguised as commercial drivers.

In the South-South, troops rescued two kidnapped victims and recovered ransom money amounting to N4.59 million in Delta State.

“They also intercepted illegal oil bunkering activities and recovered petroleum products in the region,” the report said.

In Akwa Ibom, troops arrested five suspects linked to drug trafficking during a raid.

The military assured that troops would sustain offensive operations nationwide to deny criminal elements freedom of action and enhance security.
