Amidst ethnic profiling in Southern Nigeria, one of 16 highest ranking kings in Ekiti and Attah of Aiyede Kingdom, Oba Alhaji Abdulmumini Adebayo Orishagbemi, is set to install a Fulani man as one of his chiefs.
His Media and Publicity Consultant, Prince Bashir Adefaka who dropped the hint in Lagos on Thursday, said details would be made available at a later time.
According to Adefaka, “His Royal Majesty Oba Alhaji Abdulmumini Adebayo Orishagbemi is naturally a detribalised Yoruba man that has seen it all to know there is no gain in tribalism, regardless of what anybody says.”
Aiyede community, a notable kingdom in Yoruba land, has historical proof with many tribes like the Yoruba, Fulani, Ebira and Tapa, among others.
“Ekiti State was one of the Yoruba lands with more of ethnic profiling against Fulani Nigerians, especially under Ayo Fayose as governor.
“But the state is equally the one where Suleiman Akinbami, an oil and gas magnate widely said to have been kidnapped by Fulani herdsmen, granted interview in PUNCH and declared that his kidnappers were Yoruba people.
“There are more of Ekiti people, including governor Kayode Fayemi, who has taken the lead in making Nigerians realise the nature of criminality as one with no claim to tribe and religion. One of them is Attah Orishagbemi.
“Kabiyesi has never pretended about his connection with Nigeria and has always warned people to treat a criminal as criminal not to trace his tribe and religion as it makes no sense but causes destability to do so,” Adefaka said.
