Bauchi Fertiliser Company Ltd (BAFCO) has raised the alarm over the alleged widespread circulation of counterfeit fertilisers being sold in open markets across the state.

The Executive Chairman, Mr Kefas Magaji, expressed concern in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of BAFCO, Mr Rabiu Idris, on Friday in Bauchi.

Magaji thanked loyal farmers for their continued trust in BAFCO’s products but cautioned them against purchasing fertiliser from unauthorised vendors.

“While we have commenced production of NPK 20:10:10 fertiliser for the 2025 farming season, the product has not yet been released to any individual or group.

“The official launch of sales and distribution will follow a formal flag-off by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi, Sen. Bala Mohammed,” he said.

The chairman reiterated that the Bauchi State Agricultural Supply Company (BASAC) remains the only accredited agency authorised to sell BAFCO fertiliser to the public.

“Any purchase made outside BASAC is at the buyer’s risk and may involve fake products that could compromise farming outcomes,” he warned.

Magaji reassured farmers of BAFCO’s commitment to ensuring the availability of high-quality fertilisers for the 2025 farming season.

He also expressed gratitude to the governor for his support of the company and advised members of the public with relevant information or enquiries to contact BAFCO’s public relations unit.
