Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, will tomorrow flag off the third phase of pension payments, amounting to N5 billion, to alleviate the suffering of retirees caused by the immediate past administration.
Since assuming office, the current administration has settled N11 billion out of the unpaid backlog of N43 billion in outstanding pension benefits through two earlier phases.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, it was disclosed that the flag-off ceremony would take place at the Kano Government House.

The statement further noted that, during the first phase, Governor Yusuf allocated N6 billion to the state Pension Trust Fund to pay retirees below Grade Level 10. In the second phase, an additional N5 billion was disbursed to pensioners who had served the state for 35 years.
The Governor reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the outstanding benefits of retirees are fully settled, promising that every retiree will receive their dues promptly.
This initiative is part of the fulfilment of the campaign promises made by Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration.
