LakeWhyte Communications has conferred the Best Governor on Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) for 2024 on Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.
A statement by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa on Wednesday, said the prestigious award recognizes Governor Yusuf’s remarkable strides in women and youth empowerment initiatives in Kano State.
The SME Development-endorsed communications firm highlighted the governor’s exceptional investments in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and his efforts to reposition Kano as a hub of trade and commerce.
The award was presented during the flag-off of a women empowerment program at the Government House. While presenting the award, the Chairman of LakeWhyte Communications, Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu Lawal (mni), lauded Governor Yusuf’s initiatives, including the monthly disbursement of ₦50,000 capital to 5,200 women.
“Our team spent days in Kano witnessing the governor’s remarkable efforts to improve entrepreneurship through women empowerment,” Aliyu stated. He further revealed that the board of directors, consultants, and technical advisers unanimously selected Kano State for the award, following a comprehensive assessment of similar programs across the federation.
“We are impressed by His Excellency’s commitment to empowering women, widows, youth, and the girl-child. The massive turnout of women here today is evidence of the administration’s impact. As Kano remains the center of commerce, it’s clear that His Excellency is fostering growth in entrepreneurship and MSMEs,” Aliyu added.
In addition to the SME award, Governor Yusuf was also recognized by the National Air Traffic Communicators Association of Nigeria (NACAN) for his dedication to the modernization and remodeling of Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA). The award was presented by NACAN President Mallam Rabi’u Muhammad Sani, who commended the governor’s contributions to aviation infrastructure.
Notably, the SME Annual Award has previously been presented to the governors of Lagos, Borno, Katsina, and Bauchi states.
